Since I was in undergrad, my siblings and I have talked about living in the same city as adults. We grew up together, surrounded by our cousins, aunts, and uncles. Although we all had our friends, having a large community around us shaped us into the adults we’ve become. Raising a child in an environment with so many differing examples of adulthood expands their world and provides them with support. As they grow older, they sometimes feel more comfortable sharing with their aunts and uncles feelings they don’t think their parents will understand.
